7 Reasons I Love To Travel

I saw this sign a few years ago while browsing the home decor section in a TJ Maxx. The minute I saw it I knew I had to buy it. This quote spoke to my soul and summed up in one sentence why I love to travel so much. Every time I go somewhere I learn or experience something new that makes me, well me. Whether it was roadtripping with my dad to football games, learning something new at ECOPT, or cruising with my kids I feel like a more well rounded person. Everyone who loves to travel has their own reasons, below are just a few reasons why I love it and have a need to travel.

1. Explore the World

There are 195 countries encompassing 57 million square miles of land on the earth. It is easy to say that we live in a big wide world. Traveling lets me not only see the world and all the amazing places in it, but to experience them in person. I have a desire to see as much of the world as I can.

2. Experience New Cultures

With each new country you get new history, customs, art, ideals and values to learn about. I loved studying Anthropology in college and with travel I can experience those new cultures and broaden my mind Experiencing new cultures makes us see that despite our differences we are much more a like then we realize. It give us a sense of being apart of a global community.

3. Immerse in History

It is an awe-inspiring feeling walking around ancient ruins, knowing that this where people once lived there lives hundred or thousands of years ago. You just can't capture that feeling in a typical museum. Don't get me wrong I love going to museums, but you don't get the same sense of wonder and grandeur in a museum.

We had an opportunity to climb the ruins of

Altun Ha in Belize on our Western Caribbean

Cruise. This was my favorite shore excursion.

4. Strengthen Relationships

I have always loved the saying "Love makes the world go round," so it makes sense that you should explore it with your loved one. Traveling is a great way to reconnect with loved one. I don't just mean your partner though I do think that is very important. Last year I went on a trip with my daughter to New Orleans. It was amazing exploring and bonding in a new place together. I am also looking forward to going on a cruise with just my amazing hubby in a few months.

5. Find Adventure

There i s so much to see, do and experience in our amazing world. It was in YellowStone that I decided to try something new and go kayaking for the first time. Now I love to kayak, in fact our family owns two. My daughter and I plan to kayak in Alaska in August. We have also been ATVing in Mexico and hope to snorkel soon.

6. Relax and Renew

Travel can afford you the opportunity to stop and take a breathe, relax and destress. You can take a break from the everyday hustle and bustle. You don't have to worry about meetings, deadlines, helping the kids, keeping up on laundry or even cooking meals if you don't want to. In a Gallup study, people who alway make time for a trip had a higher health score then those who didn't.

7. Make Memories

The most important reason why I love to travel is to make memories. Traveling to football games with my dad, family road trips, Disney trips with my mom and traveling with my best friend and her family to horse races. I love these memories and I want to make my own with my family.
